Amen. I would not say that Jesus told his followers to pray secretly, but that the core of his message was not to enter prayer as a performance, as a public display of piety. The point of entering your closet and praying privately is to focus the act of prayer on God as the audience instead of the public as audience. Public prayer is not a violation of His Commandments, but prayer as performance to an earthly audience for their aporoval of the piety of the one praying is.
