This is a great reminder for those of us who believe. What you look for, you will find. If you look for God, you will find Him. If you look for the World, you will find it. God sends His rain on the just and the unjust, but that's the only way they can have an opportunity to turn from their worldly ways. For those of us who seek God and His promise, we can find it all around us, as long as that's what we're seeking. Great perspective on God swearing an oath to Isaac on Himself. I missed that part in all my readings prior. I wonder what other people will find in this today?
I've always struggled with this story, even moreso after I became a father of a son, myself. I can follow being willing to "go through the motions" of walking up that mountain side, but not binding my son and raising the knife to the point of actually going through with it. The question that still haunts me is this. God knows everything. Why test Isaac if God already knows what Isaac will do (which God does know)? Is the point to prove something to Isaac that Isaac didn't know? If so, what?
I see it as such a tremendous sign of prophecy…God swears an oath that He “will” sacrifice His own son Jesus for all who believe and it is not for Abraham to sacrifice Issac.
I think it’s the test itself that proves Abrahams faith. He had told the other men that they would go up the mountain And They would come back❣️ So yes, it seems unbelievable to us, but remember the peoples who were around them were sacrificing their own children‼️🙀😱.
